Once a year I take a trip with my two besties from high school; don't do the math it's been a long time since we have been in school. This year we headed down to North Carolina to explore the mountains and collect water for our little project together Naked Pineapple Soap Company. Check us out on Facebook for more info on it https://www.facebook.com/nakedpineapplesoapcompany!
Anyways we left on July 15th and came back on the 24th. We started our week at Higging's Creek in Tennessee where we saw a momma bear and her cub! They were across the creek from us till they weren't and we went high tailing it out of there. Next stop was the cabin where we were staying that had a lovely creek running right behind it that we napped in a couple of days.
Monday where we hiked to the top of Chimney Rock and then down to the waterfall where Last of the Mohicans was filmed. We made sure to get water from it for soap! We are always so ambitious when we start our hikes and by the end our friend that lives on a hill in Laurelville is dragging the two of us the rest of the way!
Tuesday's adventure took us to another waterfall that was quit the hike to get to only to discover it was more of a dribble than a waterfall! We met a couple of older guys hiking and our pride took control and made us continue the hike up to the overlook; you will notice I am not in that picture as I found out this trip heights aren't my thing!
Wednesday we headed to Dupont Reserve where we saw two waterfalls one was called Bridal Veil and the other Hooker Falls. We tried to save a blue heron stuck in some fishing line by calling a park ranger and had to convince our other friend to not cross the rushing water to help so she didn't need saving. Yes, we are all hippies at heart and can't stand to see animals in danger.
Thursday took us in to Ashville, North Carolina where we shopped, ate and saw a psychic! She had some interesting things to say and new my grandmother's name was Marie! I may have cried a little.
Friday we spent the day back at Dupont and walked almost 7 miles! We weren't not planning on that but we just couldn't resist the nature around us! It was also dance party Friday at the store so of course we had to make a video to post!
Saturday we woke up and headed back to reality and our families with our souls refreshed and our legs begging us to never take a hike again!
I'm happy to be back home and head back to the store tomorrow!
